From July 1, 2019: Title “COSMETIC DOCTOR KNMG” recognized as a profile specialty in cosmetic medicine

Since July 1, 2019, the title “Cosmetic Doctor KNMG” has been a recognized profile specialty in cosmetic medicine. In this way, the government offers clear recognition for this specialty and a tool for patients to recognize doctors who are certified and skilled in performing cosmetic treatments, such as botox (botulinum toxin and fillers), thread lifts, intensive laser treatments and peels. The title “Cosmetic Doctor KNMG” is a protected title, registered by the KNMG, and may only be used by doctors who are registered in the profile register. Dutch Association for Cosmetic Medicine (NVCG)

The Dutch Association for Cosmetic Medicine (NVCG) is the government-recognized scientific association for cosmetic medicine. The association strives to improve the quality and information provision surrounding medical cosmetic treatments. The NVCG is responsible for the training and certification of KNMG cosmetic doctors and monitors new developments in the industry. Both doctors and patients can contact the association in case of any complications.

Protected title: guarantee of quality and safety

Thanks to the protected profile recognition, not every doctor can simply call himself a KNMG cosmetic doctor. It is immediately visible which doctors have the competence of a KNMG cosmetic doctor. Personally, I think this is a positive development. This allows quality and safety within the profession of cosmetic medicine to be better guaranteed.
