Growth
For the first time in ages, I get up this Sunday morning feeling fulfilled. We have just been open for a month now with our new branch in The Hague and we are busier than ever. Of course, it has been very hectic and every now and then I threaten to lose myself in stress. For instance, I spent weeks looking for the perfect Senn-Miller hooks we needed for our facelift surgery. Luckily, it arrived a day beforehand. Pufff. And I got very angry with the operator on the phone when my botox delivery was not on time. "Not so charming", but that's part of the process of growth. In growth, you are allowed to challenge the perfectionist in you. You are allowed to be angry and scream. After all, it's not just about the challenge itself, but how you respond to the challenge.
Growth comes in different forms. Not only have I grown enormously in recent years in business, but I have also made significant strides personally. Of course, every now and then I face growing pains in the form of setbacks, but it is precisely then that I get to know myself better. I now know what my qualities are, but also my pitfalls. I am a perfectionist with a great sense of responsibility, saying "no" is sometimes difficult. After all, I want to make everyone happy, but I don't always succeed. Fortunately, I am better at accepting and appreciating myself for who you are. This gives me self-confidence to grow further. Self-acceptance is ultimately the foundation, and the firmer that foundation is, the further you will get.
People sometimes wonder aloud whether self-acceptance does not clash with cosmetic surgery. I believe not. I am very proud of my clients who allow themselves the time and attention in the clinic. Ageing and setbacks in our lives can sometimes leave marks on our faces and bodies. Why not opt for that little touch-up if it makes you feel more confident? Or if you have spent your life unhappy with a certain aspect of your body, it shows courage when you decide to change it.
As such, it is my clients who inspire me to grow further. We are in the middle of the process, both business and personal, but I allow myself a moment on this summer day to be fulfilled. Fulfilled and grateful. That's what Sundays are for. Take it slow. And give your soul a chance to catch up with your body.
Namaste
