Personal experience Upper eyelid surgery
An upper eyelid correction can be a significant step, often accompanied by thorough research and careful considerations. But what can you expect after the procedure? In this blog: Personal Experience Upper Eyelid Correction, our dear client Simone shares her personal experience with her upper eyelid correction at SkinSurgery Clinics. Simone kept a detailed diary where she candidly describes the aftercare, her recovery process, and how she felt following the procedure. Are you also considering undergoing an upper eyelid correction? Then read Simone’s story for inspiration, but keep in mind that every recovery is unique and may vary from person to person.
Day 1 (07-05-24): 1 hour after the surgery
Day 2 (07-06-24): Morning after the surgery, just woke up (haven't started cooling yet)
Day 2 (07-06-24): In the evening, cooled all day
I had a very good night. I raised my mattress and slept in a semi-upright position. From the morning onwards, I started cooling again right away. Additionally, I rinsed my face with some water for the first time. I did this using a gentle shower stream and lukewarm water. After the shower, I had a little bit of blood loss (light red, so mixed with some wound fluid). Until late afternoon, I felt some pressure on my eyes/head.
Day 3 (07-07-24): In the morning, just woke up (haven't started cooling yet)
Day 3 (07-07-24): In the evening
In the morning, I had some swelling, so I started cooling. Just like yesterday, I took a shower again and gently got my eyes wet. I carefully dried them by patting. This time, I didn’t experience any blood loss or wound fluid. The swelling decreased throughout the day. I cooled a total of three times today because I found it comforting to do so.
Day 4 (07-08-24)
This morning, I had some swelling again, which isn't surprising since you've been sleeping all night. Last night was the first time I slept with my mattress in its normal position again. I usually sleep on my side, but I managed to stay on my back, though occasionally with my face slightly turned to one side. Since I still had some swelling, I started the day with cooling. I took it easy but carefully did a few things around the house, like unloading the dishwasher (without bending over too much). The bruising is also less today; on the left side, I notice it's starting to spread and turning a bit yellow.
Day 5 (07-09-24)
Today, I didn’t do any cooling. Additionally, I washed my hair for the first time. I kept my head tilted back a bit more while washing.
Day 6 (07-10-24)
A part of my bandages had become very loose, so I carefully removed them. There is still a little bit of swelling visible, and the bruising/discolored areas are almost completely gone. There are still some scabs visible. I applied some makeup again for the first time (not on or around my eyes).
Day 7 (07-11-24)
Today, the stitches were removed. There are still some scabs present. I’ve also noticed some eyelash loss. Additionally, I still have some fluid/swelling, which is also visible.
Day 14 (07-18-24)
After about two weeks, most of my scabs were nearly gone, and I used makeup for the first time. However, my eyelashes and eyelid still feel dull/numb. Rubbing my eyes still doesn’t feel comfortable, so I’m being careful with that (especially because there are still a few small scabs left). The scar is still a bit red and thick, but not very noticeable.
5.5 weeks after the surgery (08-13-24)
2 months after the surgery
