Breasts consist of mammary glands surrounded by fatty tissue and covered by skin. The fatty tissue makes the breast feel soft. The shape of your breasts depends on fatty tissue as well as the elasticity of the skin.
Pregnancy or weight loss, for example, are likely to reduce the volume of the breast, which may be a reason to opt for breast augmentation.
Besides implant choice, the way the implants are placed can determine the outcome. Implant placement depends mainly on the thickness of the subcutaneous tissue.
You can opt for a subglandular placement. In a subglandular placement, the implants are placed above the pectoral muscle and below the mammary gland. Usually, fewer obstructions will be encountered with a subglandular placement. Alternatively, you may opt for a submuscular placement. In a submuscular placement, the implants are placed behind (or inside) the pectoral muscle. This provides additional bedding for the implant. The incision determines the location of the scar.

Breast implants come in two different basic shapes, round and anatomical. The choice of a round or anatomical (drop-shaped) implant is decided by mutual agreement. The filling of your breast implant is important. It affects the shape and feel of your breast. Breast implants filled with silicone gel are the most commonly used implants. Nagor's breast implants are made with FDA-approved NuSil medical silicone. These give a natural look and feel.
Nagor® breast implants consist of two different surfaces; smooth and micro textured. They are shape stable and available in different sizes and profiles to suit your body shape and personal expectations.
Nagor® breast implants are developed to be strong, elastic and long-lasting. The elastic stretchability (shell elongation test) according to the ASTM (American Society of Testing and Materials) standard is at least 350%. Nagor® breast implants have an elastic elongation of 600%. This ensures that the prosthesis is even safer.
Breast augmentation is performed under general anaesthesia in day surgery. The procedure takes about 120 minutes. Skin+Surgery Clinics has a close cooperation with the Reinier de Graaf hospital in Delft. Your procedure will be performed at this hospital by Dr Elma van Rossen. Surely that is a safe idea.

Your aftercare is our care. We work with a specially developed aftercare protocol so that you recover smoothly with minimal risk of complications.
After surgery, optimal conditions for rapid wound healing and good aesthetic results are important. After any surgery, breast tissue will swell in response to the procedure. Despite the use of pain-relieving medication, movement of the breast still often causes pain and it is important to minimise breast movement. To address swelling and promote the healing process, we recommend compression garment at all times. As the swelling decreases because of the compression garment, the pain will also decrease.
Compression garments apply pressure directly to the swollen area, reducing accumulation of blood and fluids and creating the optimal environment for rapid healing. Moreover, it helps reduce scarring and will relieve pain by appropriately restricting range of motion.
Exactly what type of compression garments you need is always best to discuss with your specialist. They will be familiar with your procedure and will be able to advise on garments that offer the right pressure on relevant wound and/or scar area based on this information.

Risks
Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure performed under general anaesthesia. You may possibly experience discomfort from the anaesthesia after the procedure. This may include complaints such as nausea and vomiting. Other complications may include post-operative bleeding, infection or encapsulation of the implant. These complications are rare.
You may experience mild post-operative pain after breast augmentation that will go away on its own or with a paracetamol. When in doubt, always contact the specialists at Skin + Surgery Clinics.
