Swelling and redness after eyelid surgery in Delft can be effectively controlled with cooling goggles. You place a gauze pad between your eyes and the cooling goggles. It helps to sleep with an extra pillow for the first few days so that your head is higher. In case of mild pain, a paracetamol can be taken. You are allowed to rinse your eyes with a gentle jet of water one day after the procedure. Afterwards, pat it dry without rubbing.
For the first week, avoid heavy physical exercise, lifting, bending, pressing and coughing. You should not cut the ends of the stitches yourself. This will be done after 7 to 9 days at our clinic. It is out of the question to smoke while the sutures are still in place. Otherwise, your blood vessels will constrict and you run an increased risk of impaired wound healing.
