An eyelid correction in Delft required no admission at our clinic. It is an outpatient treatment and relatively simple procedure performed under local anaesthetic. If you are very nervous, sedative medication can be prescribed. Our patients are allowed to go home after the procedure and after a short rest period. An upper eyelid correction is performed for drooping eyelids. The treatment area is first marked off. After a minute incision, the excess skin and fatty tissue is removed. The scar of the suture falls precisely into the natural skin fold. This is virtually invisible later.

A lower eyelid correction is performed if you suffer from bags under your eyes. Our specialist makes a small incision under the lash line, after which the excess skin and fatty tissue under the eyes is removed. The skin is then pulled together and sutured. The scar under your eyelashes is hardly visible, if at all. An eyelid correction is a painless treatment that takes about 1 hour. You should not drive yourself after the treatment because of the swelling around the eyes and the resulting reduced vision. An eyelid correction has long-term results. You are guaranteed at Skin + Surgery excellent aftercare. We follow an aftercare protocol to minimise the risks and chances of complications. Swelling and redness after eyelid surgery in Delft can be effectively controlled with cooling goggles. You place a gauze pad between your eyes and the cooling goggles. It helps to sleep with an extra pillow for the first few days so that your head is higher. In case of mild pain, a paracetamol can be taken. You are allowed to rinse your eyes with a gentle jet of water one day after the procedure. Afterwards, pat it dry without rubbing.

For the first week, avoid heavy physical exercise, lifting, bending, pressing and coughing. You should not cut the ends of the stitches yourself. This will be done after 7 to 9 days at our clinic. It is out of the question to smoke while the sutures are still in place. Otherwise, your blood vessels will constrict and you run an increased risk of impaired wound healing. You may use make-up again after the stitches have been removed and all scabs are gone. Do not expose the scars to sunlight or tanning bed radiation for the first three months. Aftercare after eyelid surgery

Door onze jarenlange ervaring in het uitvoeren van oodlidcorrecties, werken we met een speciaal voor – en nazorg protocol. Zo ben je optimaal voorbereid en herstel je zonder complicaties. Het kan zijn dat na het uitwerken van de plaatselijke verdoving je wat pijn kan ervaren. Meestal is pijnstilling met paracetamol hiervoor voldoende. Verder mag je op de dag van de operatie niet zelf autorijden. Verder adviseren wij om geen auto te rijden zolang je zicht belemmerd is. Contactlenzen mag je gedurende 2 weken niet gebruiken. Make-up kan je weer gebruiken na het verwijderen van de hechtingen, als alle korstjes verdwenen zijn. Wij raden je aan om niet te roken tot het verwijderen van de hechtingen. Roken verhoogt de kans op complicaties. We adviseren je de littekens gedurende 3 maanden na de operatie niet bloot te stellen aan UV- zonlicht en/of de zonnebank.
