A facelift is an operation that is performed when the skin on your face is sagging due to your age. Other factors such as excessive smoking and drinking and prolonged exposure to bright sunlight also lead to skin aging. Wrinkles, crow’s feet and folds can also result from hereditary predisposition, significant weight loss or vitamin deficiency. Skin + Surgery performs a bespoke facelift, in the form of an S-lift (minilift), MACS lift or neck facelift. During the procedure, the skin and the underlying muscle and connective tissue are tightened and lifted. After a few weeks the result will be visible and you will recognize yourself again in your radiant mirror image.
Quality is our passion
A facelift is always preceded by several consultations with our plastic surgeon. During the consultation, which is free of obligation, you have every opportunity to ask your questions in a personal meeting. And to express your wishes and expectations about the treatment. Our surgeon Dr. Thanya Tha-In will assess whether a facelift is a suitable treatment for you and which type of facelift gives the best results. You will receive all the information about the facelift treatment and you will receive an explanation about the entire treatment process, from the precaution to the aftercare. You will be told what final result you can expect from the treatment. Photographs will be taken beforehand, which will be placed next to the photos taken after the surgery. This allows you to see the natural result of the facelift.
In order to understand where you come from and why you want a facelift, we like to take the time to get to know you well first. The most important thing about the whole treatment is that we understand what your wishes are. Do you want a natural result, suitable for your age? What are your important plus and minus points? How is the symmetry of your face? By getting to know you, we understand what you want. In the end it is all about you. You can take the time to make your decision. It is your face! We bring your innerbeauty and your outer beauty back into balance.
A facelift is an outpatient treatment that does not require admission. You may return home after the procedure and after a short rest period. The only thing is that you are not yet allowed to drive a car yourself. In that case, take someone with you to our clinic or have someone pick you up by car after the treatment. Various facelift treatments are carried out under anaesthetic in our clinic: an S-lift or mini-lift, a more extensive MACS lift and an extensive neck facelift. Excess skin on the face and possibly the neck is removed. With a MACS-lift and neck facelift, the underlying binding and muscle tissue is also tightened and the sagging fat tissue is brought back to its original place.
The treatment time depends on the type of facelift. The S-lift takes about 1.5 hours. Only the skin of the cheek is lifted. The MACS lift takes about 2 hours, during which both the skin of the cheek and the underlying supporting tissue are lifted. Your jawline will become tighter and your nasal folds will become more prominent. The extended neck-facelift takes a little more time. This procedure gives you a clearer jaw and neck line and a tighter and more youthful face shape. The deep skin folds disappear. The first result is already visible after 1 to 2 weeks. The final, natural result is visible after a few months to a year. The result lasts a long time. Skin aging continues. A facelift can be repeated after 10 to 15 years.
We are happy to guide you through the entire treatment and healing process. We work with a specially developed pre- and after-care protocol, so that you are optimally prepared and enjoy your recovery. In the few days after the facelift, your face is somewhat swollen and feels tight. In case of mild afterpain it is sufficient to take a paracetamol. The swelling and bruising will disappear within a few weeks. Take sufficient rest in the first week and sleep in the supine position on an extra pillow. This helps against the swelling, reduces the risk of bleeding and promotes the healing process. Avoid pressing, squeezing, bending or lifting in the first three weeks. Do not make heavy physical efforts in the first six weeks.
You will achieve the best results and the fastest healing with a healthy lifestyle. In any case, stop smoking until the stitches are removed, do not drink hot drinks to prevent facial congestion and do not chew solid food intensively. Otherwise the sutures in the face will come under pressure. Keep moving normally after the facelift, so that the blood circulation remains good and the wound heals quickly. After one to two weeks you will be present again and able to resume your daily social activities. Do not expose your facial skin to bright sunlight during the first three months and do not go under a tanning bed or to the sauna.

Frequently asked questions
A facelift is a treatment that is carried out when the skin on your face is sagging due to age. During the procedure, the skin and the underlying muscle and connective tissue are tightened and lifted. This gives your face, neck and jawline a youthful contour.
Watch our videos below where Dr. Thanya Tha-In explains exactly what a facelift entails.
- S-LIFT , is also called the mini lift. Only the skin of the cheek is lifted. The underlying supporting tissue is not lifted.
- MACS-lift: MACS-lift (Minimal Access Cranial Suspension lift) not only lifts the skin of the cheek but also the underlying supporting tissue. The neck is not included.
- Face/neck lift: With face/neck lift, an extended incision behind the ear not only lifts the skin of the cheek and the underlying support fabric, but also the neck.
There is a risk of complication with any surgical treatment. That is why it is important that you are aware of the procedure and the possible complications. There is a risk of an allergic reaction, bleeding or infection. The chance of this is very small. Our instruments are single-use and of the best quality. We work with very fine needles and fine diathermy in order to minimise trauma to the tissue as much as possible.
Specific complications with a facelift are nerve damage, asymmetry, hair loss, formation of hypertrophic scars and numbness of part of your face. The latter is usually not permanent.
Take sufficient rest in the week after your treatment. Make sure that someone can help you.
Sleep in the supine position on 2 pillows. This reduces the risk of bleeding and swelling. It promotes healing.
In the first two weeks after the treatment you should not push, push, lift or bend down.
We advise you not to smoke until the stitches have been removed. Smoking increases the risk of complications.
Avoid intensive chewing of solid food. This will put pressure on the stitches in the face.
Do not drink hot drinks, such as tea or coffee, to prevent congestion in the face.
Swelling and bruising get worse in the first three days and then slowly diminish again.
It is wise to keep moving normally. This is good for blood circulation and wound healing.
Do not do heavy and strenuous work or sport activities during the first six weeks.
Plan your social contacts. Stay at home for a week. The treated area will look blue, swollen and bruised for the first week. The scars may also be red and swollen immediately after treatment. This is sometimes a bit of a scare.
One to two weeks after a facelift you will usually be present again and you will be able to resume your social activities.
We advise you not to expose the scars to UV sunlight and/or the sunbed for 3 months after the operation.
Avoid emotional excitement. After a few weeks everything will be fine again.
