Mini facelift S-Lift
Maybe you have not considered a facelift before, because you have a certain image or idea. But an S-Lift, or mini facelift, can give beautiful (and especially natural) results, and is less invasive than you might think.
The S-lift, also known as a mini facelift or minilift, is the least invasive facelift and is suitable for people with sagging skin. Using minimal incisions, only the top layer of skin around the jawline and cheeks is lifted. This is a different technique than the classic facelift or MACS lift, in which the underlying tissue layers (such as muscle, fat and connective tissue) are also lifted. This usually means that less recovery time is required. On the other hand, the results are more subtle than with other types of lifts and not everyone is a suitable candidate for achieving the same results.
A mini facelift (S-Lift) has the best results for people with mild signs of aging, such as sagging skin, drooping cheeks or a slackened jawline. It is a popular option for people who have tried to achieve a younger look with fillers, but find that fillers no longer give them optimal results.
A mini facelift does not yield the same result as a classic facelift. However, done the right way, it can make a huge difference in the way you look and give you a more youthful appearance.
The name “S-Lift” says everything about the way the surgeon makes incisions: on both sides of the face, in front of the ear, in the shape of an S. From here the skin is lifted and excess skin is removed. Everything is carefully stitched in the natural lines and folds of the front of the ear. This minimizes the chance of visible scars. Before the procedure, you will be intoxicated so that you can go to sleep. Furthermore, the procedure takes place under local anesthesia and takes an average of one and a half hours.

A facelift is always preceded by several consultations with our plastic surgeon. During the no-obligation consultation you have plenty of room to ask your questions in a personal conversation and to express your wishes and expectations about the treatment. Our surgeon Dr. Thanya Tha-In assesses whether an S-Lift is a suitable treatment for you and whether it gives the desired result. You will receive all information about the different lift techniques and you will receive an explanation of the entire treatment process, from precaution to aftercare. You will be told what end result you can expect from the treatment. Photos are taken beforehand, which are placed next to the photos after the surgery. You can see the natural result of the facelift beautifully.
To understand where you come from and why you would like a facelift, we would like to take the time to get to know you well. The most important thing about the entire treatment is that we understand what your wishes are. Do you want a natural result that suits your age? What are your main advantages and disadvantages? How is the symmetry of your face? By getting to know you, we understand what you want. Ultimately, it’s about you. You can take the time to make your decision. It’s your face! We bring your inner beauty and your outer beauty back into balance.
An S-Lift is an outpatient treatment , for which no hospitalization is required. You can go home after the procedure and after a short rest. You are just not allowed to drive yourself. In that case, take someone with you to our clinic or have someone pick you up by car after the treatment. The S-Lift is always performed under local anesthesia and takes approximately 1.5 hours. Only the skin of the cheek is lifted.
The first result is already visible after 1 to 2 weeks. The definitive, natural result shows itself after a few months to a year. The result lasts a long time. The skin aging will continue. A facelift can be repeated after 10 to 15 years.
We are happy to guide you through the entire treatment and healing process. We work with a specially developed pre and aftercare protocol, so that you are optimally prepared and enjoy your recovery. The few days after the S-Lift your face is a bit swollen and feels tight. For light after pain, taking a paracetamol is sufficient. The swelling and bruising will go away on its own within a few weeks. Take sufficient rest in the first week and sleep in the supine position on an extra pillow. This helps against swelling, reduces the risk of bleeding afterwards and promotes the healing process. For the first three weeks, avoid pressing, straining, bending, or lifting. Do not engage in vigorous physical activity in the first six weeks.
You achieve the best result and the fastest healing with a healthy lifestyle. In any case, stop smoking until the stitches are out, do not drink hot drinks to prevent facial congestion and do not chew solid food intensively. Otherwise, this will put pressure on the sutures in the face. After the S-Lift, keep moving normally to keep blood circulation going and the wound healing quickly. You will be presentable again after one to two weeks and able to resume your daily social activities. For the first three months, do not expose your facial skin to strong sunlight and do not use the tanning bed or the sauna. We recommend a number of connective tissue massages from 3 months after the treatment. This makes the skin, underlying tissues and scars supple and soft, and promotes recovery.
An S-Lift is a common surgical procedure at Skin + Surgery Clinics, with a very low risk of complications. In some cases an allergic reaction, bleeding or infection may occur. However, this is rare, as our highly qualified and experienced specialists work according to the most modern treatment techniques and use the best instruments.
Occasionally, specific complications can arise such as nerve damage, asymmetry, hypertrophic (red, itchy) scars, hair loss, or numbness of part of your face, which is usually not permanent. If in doubt, please immediately contact your treating physician at Skin + Surgery. Our doctors are easily accessible.

Frequently Asked Questions
An S-Lift or mini facelift is by definition a surgical procedure. That means you will be operated on. It is a treatment that is performed when the skin on your face starts to sag with age. During the procedure, the skin is tightened and lifted. This gives your face, neck and jawline a youthful contour.
If an S-Lift cannot produce the desired result, the surgeon will recommend a different lift. At Skin + Surgery we specialize in different types of lifts and techniques.
The MACS lift </ a> : not only the skin of the cheek is lifted, as with the S-Lift or mini lift, but the underlying supporting tissue is also included. This technique is suitable when there is more sagging, when there is a larger area to be lifted and is often applicable from a certain age. The neck is not included in a MACS lift.
Face and neck lift </ a> : With a face / neck lift, an extended incision behind the ear not only lifts the skin of the cheek and the underlying supporting tissue, but also lifts the neck.
Necklift with platysmaplasty </ b >: this lift is recommended if especially the neck (and underlying muscles) are relaxed. The skin of the face is not lifted with this treatment.
Face slimming </ b>: this unique treatment tackles chubby hamster cheeks and a stubborn double chin. In this case, there is no question of enormous slackening, but there is unwanted volume, which gives you, for example, a baby face .
Dr. Tha-In Signature Lift : all of Dr. Tha-In together. Combining her many years of experience, this lift allows her to tackle multiple problem areas at once and achieve amazing results.
An S-lift is suitable for people who want a natural change in their face, where skin slackening is the main problem. The degree of sagging skin and age determine who is a suitable candidate for an S-lift. The surgeon will always assess whether an S-Lift or minilift is suitable for you and can give you the desired result.
With an S-Lift, the top skin layer is lifted to smooth out wrinkles, correct skin sagging and create a more defined jawline.
The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia, which is less time-consuming, risky and time-consuming than general anesthesia.
It is the least invasive facelift technique, which means less recovery time than a traditional lift.
The incisions are smaller, and so is the chance of visible scars.
An S-Lift / mini-lift does not lift the underlying muscles, so it is not suitable for everyone.
The results of a mini facelift last between two to five years, while the results of a classic facelift last much longer.
An S-Lift / minilift is only for the cheeks and jawline. Further sagging in the face is not lifted.
You are only a suitable candidate for this lift if there is skin slackening without slackening of the underlying layers.
There is a risk of complication with any surgical treatment. That is why it is important that you are aware of the procedure and the possible complications. There is a risk of an allergic reaction, bleeding or infection. The chance of this is very small. Our instruments are of the best quality. We work with very fine needles and fine diathermy, so as to minimize trauma to the tissue.
Specific complications with a facelift are nerve damage, asymmetry, hair loss, hypertrophic scarring and numbness of part of your face. The latter is usually not permanent.
- Take enough rest in the week after your treatment. Make sure someone can help you.
- Sleep in the supine position on 2 pillows. This reduces the risk of bleeding and swelling. It promotes healing.
- Do not push, push, lift or bend over during the first two weeks after treatment.
- We recommend that you do not smoke until the stitches are removed. Smoking increases the risk of complications.
- Avoid intensive chewing of solid foods. This puts pressure on the sutures in the face.
- Do not drink hot drinks, such as tea or coffee, to avoid facial congestion.
- Swelling and bruising get worse for the first three days and then slowly subside.
- It is wise to keep moving normally. This is good for circulation and wound healing.
- Do not engage in heavy and strenuous work or sports activities for the first six weeks.
- Schedule your social contacts. Stay at home for a week. The treated area will look blue, swollen, and bruised for the first week. The scars can also be red and swollen immediately after the treatment. This is sometimes a bit of a shock.
- One to two weeks after a facelift you are usually presentable again and you can resume your social activities.
- We advise you not to expose the scars to UV sunlight and / or the tanning bed for 3 months after surgery.
- After 3 months it is advisable to start with connective tissue massages. This relaxes the skin, underlying tissue and scars. The massages promote recovery and ensure longer retention of the result.
- Avoid emotional arousal. After a few weeks everything will be fine again.
