Prior to deciding on lip plumping, you have a non-binding consultation with the attending physician at Skin + Surgery. In this free consultation, you can ask all your questions and express your wishes and expectations about the treatment. Our cosmetic doctor will tell you in a personal conversation in a relaxed setting what the treatment entails, including aftercare and possible risks. You will also be told what beautiful natural result you can expect. A lip filler is also regularly chosen by young women. They want to have their lips filled to get more sultry lips.
No two pairs of lips are alike. Our doctor will assess your lips and give expert and honest advice on which filler is most suitable. At Skin + Surgery's busy clinic, filler treatments are frequently performed. It is a short-term, outpatient treatment. You may return home after the lip filler. Lip filler is generally virtually painless. Do you have sensitive lips or do you find the treatment exciting? Then you can opt for a local anaesthetic or a numbing cream. The gel-like filler containing hyaluronic acid is injected into the skin of your lips with a very thin needle. Hyaluronic acid absorbs moisture and provides hydration and volume to the skin. For best results, our doctor not only looks at the shape of your lips. Your entire face is looked at to achieve a perfect balance.
Lip plumping takes just 10 to 15 minutes. To combat swelling, your lips and the surrounding area are cooled with an ice pack. We can return your lips to their original contour and volume, or even enlarge them slightly. This takes into account the relationship between your lips and cheekbones, as well as the relationship between your upper lip and lower lip. If desired, you can have the lip line accentuated. Temporary fillers are used. The effect is visible for about one year. The injected hyaluronic acid is then completely absorbed by your body. The treatment can then easily be repeated to regain beautiful full lips.

Your lips may be a little red and swollen after the filler treatment, or show some bruising. This is usually minimal. Immediate cooling will counteract the swelling. These mild symptoms are not serious and disappear on their own. The anaesthetic works for about two hours. The treated area may still be slightly unresponsive as a result. This recovers automatically. Skin + Surgery uses a specially designed aftercare protocol, for optimal healing and quick recovery. Your treating physician will advise you not to drink alcohol and not to exercise or engage in heavy physical activities for the first 24 hours.
You may resume your daily activities after one day. You will also be allowed to resume make-up on. In the first week after treatment, avoid exposure to bright sunlight and do not go under the sunbed or to the sauna. It is not recommended to have a treatment at the beautician or skin therapist in the first two weeks after lip filler. The final result will be visible after 14 days. You will enjoy fuller lips with a natural result for approximately one year.
