How does a microneedling treatment progress?

Before any peeling treatment, we always schedule a no-obligation intake to discuss your needs and expectations. There are many different types of peels available, some of which can be performed immediately. For other peelings, it is advised to prepare the skin several weeks in advance with Dermaceutic products for optimal results.

During the consultation, you will receive detailed explanations about the peeling treatment, aftercare, possible risks, costs and the expected result. A regular and/or chemical peel can be applied as an individual treatment or as part of a treatment programme.

Treatment

During microneedling, the skin is carefully cleansed and prepared for microneedling. The needles can be set to different depths, according to the indication. During the treatment, you may feel a slight tingling or prickling, but is not considered painful. After treatment, you will be rubbed down with a good protection. For the first few days after treatment, the skin may be more sensitive and tingle slightly during cleansing.

Aftercare

After a microneedling treatment, it is essential to support the skin with specially tailored products that promote recovery. This helps the skin regenerate optimally. In addition, it is crucial to properly protect the skin from UV radiation with at least SPF30.

Risks

What should you do or not do immediately after a treatment?

Please note that skin redness may occur during and/or immediately after treatment. This redness can last for about a week. Depending on the intensity of the treatment, the skin may peel and/or flake after a few days. Protect your skin and do not pull, pick, or scratch any existing skin. Immediately after treatment, your skin is sensitive to direct sunlight (UV radiation) and heat. It is imperative to protect your skin from the sun for at least two weeks and minimize sun exposure. Do not use exfoliating products for at least two weeks after treatment. Moisturize your skin with products that promote healthy cell growth.

Microneedling – How many treatments are needed?

Depending on the purpose of the treatment, Dermica Microneedling can be used once, or as a course of treatment (4-6 treatments). Due to the skin's sensitivity to direct sunlight, treatments are best done in autumn and winter.

How should you care for your skin after treatment?

Immediately after treatment, the skin is sensitive to direct sunlight (UV radiation) and heat. It is imperative to protect the skin from the sun for at least two weeks after treatment and minimise sun exposure. Do not undergo treatment if you are going for a short sun break or if you have just returned from a sun holiday. Do not use exfoliating products for at least two weeks after treatment.

What can you expect from a Dermica Microneedling treatment?

Using a headpiece with 11 tiny needles, the Dermica pen creates microchannels in the skin, which glide easily into the skin due to the special grinding. Depending on the depth of the needles in the skin, a tingling to prickling sensation may be perceived. In addition, the treated skin may feel warm. Often at the end of the treatment, cooling the skin, the sensation will diminish and disappear. During and immediately after treatment until about a week after treatment, redness of the skin occurs. The skin may flake. Usually, the skin fully recovers after a week.
