How does this treatment work?

Consultation with doctor

When you come for a consultation with the cosmetic doctor, all your wishes will be discussed. The cosmetic doctor will examine your skin condition and discuss which treatment is most suitable. They will discuss how the treatment will proceed and what you can expect from the final result. Aftercare, possible risks and the final result are also discussed. Would you like to undergo the treatment? Then everything will be noted in your file and you will sign the treatment agreement together with the cosmetic doctor. Pictures are taken, which can later be compared with the final result.

Treatment

A Profhilo treatment is virtually painless; it is a few pricks per side. Do you find the treatment exciting or is your skin sensitive? Then an anaesthetic or numbing cream can be used in consultation with the doctor. The Profhilo is then inserted using a very narrow needle. Swelling is minimal, possibly you could cool down to counteract some redness.

Aftercare

After the treatment, you may go home immediately. The skin may still be a little red then. The skin may also be slightly swollen or small blue spots may appear. This will go away by itself and is not serious. We recommend avoiding sports and alcohol for at least the first 24 hours. Do not expose the skin to heat (solarium, sauna). The final result will be visible after about 14 days.

Risks

The risk of complications is very low. As with any surgery, there is a small risk of infection or allergy.

How long do you see results from a Profhilo treatment?

A Profhilo treatment gives optimal results when done as a course of treatment. The advice is to undergo an average of 3 treatments, at intervals of about 4 weeks. For younger skin, 2 treatments are often sufficient. The result of a course of treatment lasts on average 9 months to a year.

Who is a suitable candidate for Profhilo?

Profhilo treatment is suitable for improving skin quality. If you want to remedy mild degrees of skin sagging, superficial wrinkles and redness, Profhilo is a great treatment for you. This also applies to younger skin: from the age of 30 we produce less collagen, so the Profhilo treatment is a nice addition in that case too.

Does a specific wrinkle bother you? Or do you have a lot of sagging skin? Then this treatment might not give you the desired effect. Of course, our doctors will be happy to discuss which treatment would then suit you best.

What does a Profhilo treatment look like?

Like other injectable treatments, Profhilo is a relatively easy and quick treatment that takes only 15 minutes on average.

Profhilo is always injected in a standard pattern of five injections on each side of the face: in front of the ears, in the nasolabial fold, in the chin, under the eyes and at the top of the cheeks. After each injection, you may experience a tingling sensation for up to 90 seconds as the substance settles into the skin.

After treatment, you can resume daily activities as normal. You may see some small mosquito bites, though these disappear within 12 to 24 hours.

What are disadvantages of Profhilo treatment?

Results of a Profhilo treatment are natural and subtle. Your skin will look fresher, rested and healthy. If you want drastic change in your face, another treatment may be more appropriate.

If there are obvious signs of ageing, or a specific wrinkle or annoyance, a more targeted filler, such as Juvéderm or Restylane, will be a better option. Profhilo is applied only in the middle and lower parts of the face. Thus, the forehead is not treated. To address this area, Profhilo can be combined with another injectable treatment such as a wrinkle relaxer.

What is Profhilo?

Profhilo is a treatment containing hyaluronic acid. By injecting it into the skin, Profhilo stimulates skin hydration as well as the production of collegeen and elastin. The result is resilient, firmed skin with a healthy glow.

Unlike other injectable treatments, Profhilo does not have the 'filling', 'volume-giving' effect as we see with filler for the lips or jawline, for example. Instead of giving immediate volume, Profhilo is absorbed by the skin. This actually gives the rejuvenating effect. So this treatment does not change the shape of your face, nor will it fill deep wrinkles. Profhilo makes the skin look smoother, more radiant and youthful.
