Personal Experience 'My upper eyelid correction'
An eyelid surgery is one of the most popular surgical treatments worldwide among both men and women.
Due to the relatively small operation and shorter recovery period, it is a unique treatment to get rid of your complaints such as drooping eyelids and a heavy feeling and to create a radiant, fresh look again. Personal stories can help you to take the step. Our dear client has a Upper eyelid correction performed at SkinSurgery Clinics and wanted to share her personal experience.
In this blog: ‘Personal Experience’ she tells how the first weeks of her recovery period went and gives extra tips. Of course, the recovery period is slightly different for everyone, the story of our client is an example of what the recovery can be like, so that you can better prepare for a possible treatment.
Day 1 after my eyelid surgery
I slept well and the pain is not too bad, I call it more sensitive. It looks worse in the photo than it feels, I think, though I expected to be much bluer. More for stories I hear from others and have seen in the photos. I have to be honest though that those did not have surgery at SkinSurgery Clinics, so maybe it differs in the technique used.
'Oh I need to chill again'
The first 2 days you are cooling a lot, the first 48 hours, every hour a quarter. I had to think about that because an hour is over quickly. As advised, I had neatly positioned peas to cool with, that worked very well

Day 2 after my eyelid surgery
This afternoon I got a call from SkinSurgery to ask if everything was going well and how I felt. I had to indicate how much pain I had on a scale of 1:10, so I had no pain at all, I describe it more as a strange feeling, rather uncomfortable. As you can see in photo 2, it already looks a lot calmer. I slept well and really try to take it easy the first week, as advised. You notice that if you do more, your eyes also get swollen, I really wanted to prevent this. That is best for recovery, and of course cooling every hour.

Day 3 after my eyelid surgery:
It's just that the stitches and plasters are still there, otherwise you wouldn't see anything on me. I still feel good, I actually have to hold myself back a bit otherwise I would want to do all sorts of things again, but lifting and bending over is not allowed.
But if you don't have any pain, you really have to think about it all the time, because how naturally do you do everything. And I'm also someone who prefers to do everything myself, rather than having to ask, so that's a pitfall for me. I hear that all day long, I'll do that, you have to take it easy! I have absolutely no pain and that's really nice, but then you're more likely to do things again that can sometimes get in the way of your recovery. So my advice is really to keep taking it easy.

Day 7 after my eyelid surgery:
The plasters and stitches can come off. I heard from my brother-in-law that it was quite painful, so I was prepared for anything. That's why I was a bit nervous because I didn't know what to expect. Well, I don't know where he's been, but I honestly didn't feel anything, I felt the plaster more than the stitches, so this was also a huge relief. It's so nice that the plasters are off again, they're a bit in the way. After removing the plasters and stitches, I immediately felt relief and had a more open view. So nice to see this after just a week, I'm already so happy with the result and it's only a week after the operation.
During the check-up, the area was cleaned a bit so that I don't have to touch it myself. The scar cream that you get from the clinic can be applied when all the scars are gone. So I have to wait a few more days with that. The consultant advised to do this in the evening before going to bed because it is a somewhat greasy substance.

Day 9 after my eyelid surgery:
Today is 2 days after the check-up and I started applying the scar cream and that is going really well, the scar feels a bit more supple and is becoming more subtle. The result is getting better and better every day. It also definitely helps that I have hardly been blue.
14 days after my eyelid surgery:
I'm already 2 weeks further and the swelling is actually almost gone. I still occasionally cooled because I just liked it. After the first week it is basically no longer necessary, but it can't hurt either. The recovery period is actually going so fast that I even forgot to take pictures because it already looks so beautiful. I am incredibly happy with the result and it will only get better.
Tip: Buy good sun protection, at SkinSurgery Clinics they have a special sun protection for the eyelids. This cream is easier to spread and is a bit thicker so it doesn't run into your eyes.
I'm so glad I took the plunge!
Finally, after a year of postponing, I am so glad I took the step. Actually, everything went really well. Of course, the speed of recovery varies from person to person, but with the right guidance, it really makes a difference of half. In retrospect, I should have done it much sooner. After my great experience with SkinSurgery Clinics, I can definitely recommend this clinic. You are really helped by professionals, you get honest and expert advice. And perhaps most importantly, I felt really at ease and they were interested in me as a person.
