Eyelid surgery before and after
Are you planning to undergo eyelid surgery, but want to see some before and after photos of eyelid surgery first? Then Skin + Surgery will be happy to help you.
Why eyelid surgery is often the right choice + before and after eyelid surgery - Our eyes make the first contact. During a conversation, we focus on the eyes of others. We use our eyes to communicate our feelings and our interest.
Maybe your droopy eyelids are even covering your beautiful eyes. Even if you don't want to undergo eyelid surgery for aesthetic reasons, it can be done for medical reasons. For instance, many people suffer from facial obstruction when their eyelids become heavier and start drooping. So there are plenty of reasons to undergo eyelid surgery. The before and after of some eyelid corrections show the difference.
Each person may require a different eyelid correction, therefore the before and after of an eyelid correction also differ from person to person. Skin + Surgery specialises in upper eyelid surgery, but also offers other types of eyelid surgery. For example lower eyelid surgery, and double eyelid corrections (also known as Asian eyelid surgery). Want to know more? Eyelid surgery is always preceded by a consultation with one of our qualified and experienced doctors. You can easily book an appointment for a free consultation via our website. During the personal consultation with our cosmetic doctor, you can indicate what bothers you, what eye complaints you have and what you would like to see changed. The consultation takes place in a relaxed setting so that you feel completely at ease. You will have the conversation with one of our specialists.
You may during the free consultation ask all your questions about treatment, aftercare, risks and costs. You will get expert and honest answers. Your eligibility for an eyelid correction will be examined. You will receive clear explanations about the entire treatment process and the expected result. During this first consultation, photos are taken of you before treatment. At a later stage, these are compared with the photos taken after the surgery. You can thus see the positive effect of an eyelid correction.
Eyelid surgery requires no recording at our clinic. It is an outpatient treatment and relatively simple procedure performed under local anaesthetic. If you are very nervous, sedative medication can be prescribed. Our patients are allowed to go home after the procedure and after a short rest period. Eyelid correction is performed for drooping eyelids. The treatment area is first marked off. After a minute incision, the excess skin and fatty tissue is removed. The scar of the suture falls precisely into the natural skin fold. This is virtually invisible later.
A lower eyelid correction is performed if you suffer from bags under your eyes. Our specialist makes a small incision under the lash line, after which the excess skin and fatty tissue under the eyes is removed. The skin is then pulled together and sutured. The scar under your eyelashes is hardly visible, if at all. An eyelid correction is a painless treatment that takes about 1 hour. You should not drive yourself after the treatment because of the swelling around the eyes and the resulting reduced vision. An eyelid correction has long-term results. You will - with good skin care and a healthy lifestyle - enjoy the treatment for 10 to 15 years.
You are guaranteed at Skin + Surgery excellent aftercare. We follow an aftercare protocol to minimise the risks and chances of complications. Swelling and redness after eyelid surgery can be effectively controlled with cooling goggles. You place a gauze pad between your eyes and the cooling goggles. It helps to sleep with an extra pillow for the first few days so that your head is higher. In case of mild pain, a paracetamol can be taken. You are allowed to rinse your eyes with a gentle jet of water one day after the procedure. Afterwards, pat it dry without rubbing.
For the first week, avoid heavy physical exertion, lifting, bending and pressing. You should not cut the ends of the stitches yourself. This will be done after 7 to 9 days at our clinic. We tringly recommend not smoking while the sutures are still in place. Otherwise, your blood vessels constrict and you run an increased risk of impaired wound healing. You may use make-up again after the stitches have been removed and all scabs are gone. Do not expose the scars to sunlight or tanning bed radiation for the first three months. You will see our doctor for a check-up up to 6 weeks after the treatment.
Eyelid surgery against drooping eyelids does not involve any major risks or complications. This short-term and relatively simple procedure produces only some swelling, redness and bruising around the eyes. These symptoms disappear after a few days. In occasional cases, a post-operative haemorrhage, eye inflammation, numbness of the eyelid margin, uneven eyelids, cysts or scarring may occur. If in doubt, contact the specialists at Skin + Surgery. Our doctors are readily available.

We recommend not wearing lenses or make-up for at least 2 weeks after your eyelid surgery. It is important to leave the treated area alone as much as possible so that it can recover properly and you can enjoy a radiant look faster. A week after your eyelid correction, you will come for a check-up and the stitches will be removed for our specialist.
Undergoing eyelid surgery can be an exciting step, have you been thinking about it for some time but unsure when it is the right time? If you look in the mirror and see a gloomy or tired face around the eyes, even when you are well rested, you may have already considered doing something about it. Eyelid surgery can help with this. Overhanging eyelids can also cause symptoms, such as limited vision and headaches due to extra exertion of the eye muscles. To determine whether you qualify for an upper eyelid correction and/or lower eyelid correction, or a combined procedure, a no-obligation consultation with our specialists is the best first step.
SkinSurgery Clinics is transparent and fair in its prices. We consider quality important, and therefore only work with experienced cosmetic doctors. Because everyone is unique, what can be corrected to the eyelids can vary from person to person. Sometimes it is only necessary to remove excess skin, fat pockets or muscle tissue. In our clinic, we consider two things important in this: long-term and natural results.
Upper eyelid surgery bilateral - skin resection
If there is only excess skin, eyelid surgery with skin resection will suffice. The underlying muscle tissue or fat pockets will not be corrected in this case.
Upper eyelid surgery both sides - skin resection and adjusting muscle
Often, in addition to excess skin, there is also sagging of the orbicularis oculi: the muscle used to close and open the eyelids. By removing a small strip, the result becomes more natural than if we were to remove only skin while there are fat pockets and sagging muscle.
Upper eyelid surgery both sides - skin resection, muscle and fat pockets removed
With somewhat thick eyelids, or puffy eyes, it is often necessary to remove some fat in addition to excess skin and muscle. This fat 'pushes' against the septum, muscle and skin, so to speak, and therefore partially causes the droopy eyelids. Therefore, to ensure long-term results, it is necessary to remove the fat as well in this indication.

A week after your eyelid correction, you will come for a check-up and the stitches will be removed for our specialist.
Due to our years of experience in performing eyelid corrections, we work with a special pre- and aftercare protocol. This way, you are optimally prepared and recover without complications.
Usually, pain relief with paracetamol is sufficient after surgery. We advise you not to drive a car on the day of surgery and as long as your vision is impaired. After a week, you will visit us for a check-up to remove the stitches.
You should not use contact lenses or make-up for 2 weeks. We advise you not to smoke for 2 weeks after the procedure. Smoking increases the risk of complications. We advise you not to expose the scars to UV sunlight and/or the sunbed for 3 months after surgery.
An upper eyelid correction and/or lower eyelid correction involves removing excess skin and fat (if under local anaesthetic combined with an intoxication). When the treatment is performed from a cosmetic point of view, this can achieve a fresher and rested look. Eyelid corrections can also be performed from a medical point of view, when the overhanging eyelids cause symptoms. In both cases, the procedure is the same.
7-9 days after your eyelid surgery, the stitches and plasters will be removed during your check-up appointment. 6-8 weeks after surgery, you will come for a check-up with one of our specialists.
At Skin + Surgery Clinics, we prioritize transparency and fairness in our pricing. We emphasize quality, collaborating exclusively with seasoned cosmetic doctors. Given that each individual is unique, the corrective approach to eyelids can differ from person to person. Sometimes, only surplus skin requires removal, while in other cases, excess fat or muscle tissue may also be involved. Within our clinic, two key principles guide our approach: long-lasting and natural results.

Performing an eyelid correction requires skilled work. There are different types of eyelid surgery, all with different intended results. To determine your eligibility for the procedure and which technique best suits your desired result, a preliminary examination is needed. During the preliminary examination, there is room to ask all your questions. Pictures are also taken for the medical record. With the preliminary examination, we ensure that you have a realistic expectation of the intended results.
