Simone's Personal Eyelid Correction Treatment Experience
An upper eyelid correction can be a big step that often involves sufficient preliminary research and considerations. But what can you expect after the procedure?
Our dear client Simone shares her personal experience with her eyelid surgery at SkinSurgery Clinics. Simone has kept a detailed diary in which she honestly talks about the aftercare, her recovery process and how she felt after the procedure.
Are you also considering getting a upper eyelid correction treatment?
Then read Simone's story for inspiration, but keep in mind that every recovery is unique and can vary from person to person.
Day 1 (05-07-24): 1 hour after surgery
Today at 09:00 I was operated on. The anesthetic injections were not too bad, the operation was done in no time (30 minutes). During the operation I felt some heat and pressure, but absolutely no pain. After this I immediately cooled down and was allowed to go home. At home I continued cooling down (every hour for fifteen minutes). I alternated this with both frozen peas and round cool packs. During the day I experienced a headache and a heavy feeling/pressure.
Day 2 (06-07-24): Morning after surgery, just woke up (not yet cooled)
Day 2 (06-07-24): In the evening, cooled all day
I had a very good night. I put my mattress up and slept half sitting. From the morning I started cooling down again. Furthermore, I rinsed some water over my face for the first time. I did this with a soft shower jet and lukewarm water. After showering I had a little blood loss (light red, so combined with some wound fluid). Until the end of the afternoon I felt some pressure on my eyes/head.
Day 3 (07-07-24): in the morning, just woke up (not yet cooled)
Day 3 (07-07-24): in the evening
In the morning I had some swelling, so I started cooling. Just like yesterday I took a shower again and carefully wet my eyes. I carefully dried it by dabbing it. This time I had no blood loss/wound fluid. The swelling decreased during the day. I cooled a total of 3 times today, because I liked doing this.
Day 4 (08-07-24)
Also this morning some swelling again, which is of course not surprising because you sleep all night. Last night was the first time that I had my mattress normally again. I am normally a side sleeper, but I managed to stay on my back. Occasionally with my face turned a little to one side. Because I still had swelling, I started the day with cooling. Otherwise I took it easy, but carefully did some things in the house, such as emptying the dishwasher (without really bending over). The blueness is also less today, on the left side I notice that it is starting to spread a bit and that it is becoming a bit yellow.
Day 5 (09-07-24)
Today I didn't cool. Also, I washed my hair for the first time. I held my head back a bit more while washing.
Day 6 (10-07-24)
Some of my patches were very loose and I carefully removed them. There is still a little swelling visible and the blue/colored spots are almost gone. There are also still crusts visible. I put on some make-up for the first time (not on or around my eyes).
Day 7 – 1 week after treatment (11-07-24)
Today the stitches were removed. There are still crusts present. Furthermore I notice some eyelash loss. Also I still notice some moisture/swelling which is also visible.
Day 14 – 2 weeks after treatment (18-07-24)
After about 2 weeks my scabs were almost gone and I used make-up for the first time. It still feels dull/numb on the eyelashes and eyelid. Furthermore, rubbing my eyes does not feel nice (yet). So I am still careful with this (also because there are still minimal scabs) The scar is still a bit red and thick, but not very visible.
5.5 weeks after surgery (13-08-24)
The scar is no longer thick, but still a bit redder. My feeling is coming back more and more. During this period I went on holiday. I always took SPF with me in my bag for my scars and almost always wore my sunglasses.
2 months after surgery
I am very happy with the result. I still notice a small thickening at the end of the scar, which is normal for recovery. My eyelids and eyelashes feel like they did before. I am very happy with my open and fresh look. I look less tired and I feel less heaviness. Furthermore, I get a lot of compliments about how beautiful and natural the result has become. Everything went well for me in the process. I recommend it to everyone!
