Everything about the costs and reimbursement of a labiaplasty
A labiaplasty (or labia reduction) is a surgical procedure in which the inner labia are reduced by removing excess tissue. A labiaplasty, also called labia correction, is an important step towards greater comfort and self-confidence for some women. In addition to medical or functional reasons, aesthetic considerations often play a role.
Variables that influence price
The cost of a labiaplasty depends on various factors, such as your personal wishes, the anesthesia, the duration and complexity of the procedure, the expertise of the surgeon, whether one or both labia are involved and whether additional procedures are performed.

At SkinSurgery Clinics, prices start at €950 for a single-sided correction. You will receive an exact quote during the consultation.
Regional price differences
Labiaplasty rates can vary by region and clinic. In urban areas, prices are sometimes higher due to higher operational costs. At SkinSurgery Clinics, we strive for an optimal price-quality ratio with transparent rates and no surprises afterwards. We perform labiaplasty in our clinic in The Hague or Bergschenhoek.
Reimbursement by health insurance
When does health insurance cover labiaplasty?
Each labia is unique; there are small labia, there are large labia and often they are asymmetrical. Our clients often choose a labia reduction for cosmetic reasons. The procedure is then not eligible for reimbursement from the health insurance.

When the inner labia are larger than the outer labia, this can also cause discomfort and even pain. In exceptional cases, a labia correction is (partly) reimbursed, but this is only when there is a medical indication, such as chronic pain, serious deformity, repeated inflammation or functional limitations. It is best to check this in the conditions of your policy, which can differ per insurer.
Tips for communicating with the insurer
If you think you may be eligible for reimbursement, we have a number of tips for communicating with your insurer:
- Have your GP or medical specialist draw up a referral letter with a clear medical motivation for the procedure.
- Please contact your health insurer in advance and ask about the exact conditions for reimbursement of a labiaplasty.
- Keep correspondence and medical records so you can refer to them if needed.
Please note: a request for reimbursement is not always approved. Therefore, prepare yourself well for your own investment.
