How do you apply for reimbursement for an eyelid correction?

The process for obtaining reimbursement usually proceeds as follows:

First, you visit your general practitioner or optometrist if complaints persist. If a medical indication is suspected, you will be referred to a specialist or clinic for further examination, such as a visual field test. You will need a referral from your GP or medical specialist for this. If the examination shows that your eyelids are indeed limiting your vision, the medical specialist can submit a request to your health insurance provider. The insurer will then assess whether the procedure meets the requirements for reimbursement under the basic insurance plan (note your deductible) or under supplementary insurance.

Please note that in some cases, it is necessary for the request to be approved in advance, before the procedure takes place.
