A step towards comfort and self-confidence

A labia correction, also called a labiaplasty, is a surgical procedure that reduces or corrects the inner labia (labia minora). This treatment helps with complaints such as pain, irritation, or embarrassment caused by enlarged labia. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, takes approximately 45 minutes, and recovery takes an average of 6 to 8 weeks. Results are permanent, and the scar is virtually invisible. What is labiaplasty?

Do you experience pain during exercise? Is cycling or sex uncomfortable or painful? If your inner labia are too large and protrude beyond the outer labia, you may experience discomfort. A labiaplasty, also called a labiaplasty, labia reduction, or vaginal correction, is a surgical procedure that reduces or corrects the inner, often protruding, labia (labia minora). This can be performed for both cosmetic and medical reasons, depending on the patient's symptoms and wishes.

At SkinSurgery Clinics, we understand that labiaplasty is a personal and sometimes sensitive decision. Our experienced team of female physicians offers a safe environment where your wishes are paramount. With a 9.0/10 rating based on over 1,800 reviews, you are assured of high-quality care and a natural-looking result.

Why choose
a labia correction?

A correction of the labia can offer both cosmetic and medical benefits: by removing excess skin tissue from the inner labia (labia minora), any complaints disappear and they are better in proportion to the outer labia. In addition to physical complaints, it may also be that you are less satisfied with the shape of the inner labia for cosmetic reasons or when they visibly protrude, which can be discussed during the intake.

A labiaplasty is an exciting and often personal process. Curious about experiences and treatment processes? Read more about how the treatment works, view reviews and a patient's experience story.

Medically necessary reasons

Many women experience physical discomfort due to excess tissue of the inner labia, which can be a nuisance during activities such as sports or when wearing tight clothing. In some cases, asymmetrical or large labia can even cause pain, for example during cycling or sex. Irritation, cracks or inflammation can also occur due to friction.

Cosmetic reasons

Some women feel insecure about the shape of their labia or when the inner labia are larger and protrude, which can lead to embarrassment or loss of self-confidence. A labiaplasty can help to achieve an aesthetically desired shape, making you feel more comfortable in your body.

The consultation

1.

The consultation

The consultation: what to expect

In a no-obligation consultation with one of our female doctors, we will discuss the reason why you are interested in a labiaplasty. Do you have any complaints? And if so, what are they? Or are your reasons mainly cosmetic? Or both? Whatever your story, we are happy to listen to it. It is important to know that you must be at least 18 years old.

Everyone is unique, which is why during the labiaplasty consultation a physical examination will also be performed by our specialist to assess the anatomy and any abnormalities. Based on this, we will draw up a personal treatment plan that suits your needs.

Discussing wishes and expectations

During the first consultation we take the time to discuss your complaints and wishes. We listen attentively and give honest advice about the possibilities and expectations of the procedure. We provide extensive information about the treatment, aftercare, risks and look at the possibilities and associated costs.

Evaluation by the specialist

By means of a physical examination we can determine whether you are eligible for a labiaplasty and which treatment options apply to you. In this way we can provide you with good information. This can be a double-sided or single-sided (extensive) labiaplasty or with a clitoral hood correction. In this way we determine how we can achieve the best result. During the physical examination photos are taken, which can later be compared with the final result.

Treatment

Treatment

Labiaplasty is a common surgical procedure at SkinSurgery Clinics, where the surgeon removes excess tissue from the inner labia under local anesthesia. Some women who are very nervous choose to take a sedative. It is a relatively minor procedure with a lasting natural result. The operation takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes and is always performed by an experienced and qualified female surgeon. After the procedure, you can go home after a short recovery period in the clinic.

Preparation for the procedure

Before the operation, you will receive detailed instructions on preparation, such as quitting smoking and avoiding certain medications. This will contribute to a speedy recovery.

Anesthesia

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. Before the local injections, an anesthetic cream is applied for your comfort. before the start of the operation, before the anesthetic injections.

Steps of the procedure

The entire operation takes an average of 60 to 90 minutes. A labiaplasty consists of the following steps:

1. Marking: The surgeon marks the tissue to be removed.

2. Anesthesia: The treatment area is anesthetized by means of local injections.

3. Removal: Excess tissue is carefully removed by the surgeon.

4. Suturing: The surgeon closes the wound with dissolvable sutures.

3.

Aftercare

3.

Aftercare

The operation is a relatively minor procedure, however, the recovery period is spicy. This may be accompanied by some pain and swelling in the pubic area. We will give you medication to promote a successful recovery, and you can also take paracetamol for support. Swelling should be controlled with an ice pack immediately after the procedure and for several days. Keep the wound clean by rinsing it at least twice a day and after every toilet visit. We recommend leaving the area alone as much as possible to allow it to recover properly.

After the labia correction, the wound is sutured with soluble sutures and is not bandaged. It is therefore sensible to wear a panty liner or sanitary towel against any wound fluid/blood loss. In the first four to six weeks after treatment, do not engage in heavy physical activity, such as physical work, intensive sports or lifting. You can resume your daily activities. During the recovery period, sex is not recommended. You are advised to wait at least six weeks before doing so.

Below you will see pictures of how recovery may go in the first 2 weeks. Know that everyone is unique and it is a very personal process. Therefore, be well informed during a personal initial consultation.

Results

Result of the labiaplasty

There are no clearly visible scars left after the labia correction. The inner and outer labia are in balance after the treatment and they form a natural whole. They can retain a somewhat irregular, asymmetrical appearance. This is normal, every labia is authentic and unique in its plastic form. The labia almost always retain their natural sensitivity. The final result can be seen after 6 to 9 months.

Effect on self-confidence

Many women experience an increase in self-confidence and comfort after the procedure, both in everyday life and during intimate moments.

Sustainability of the result

The result of a labiaplasty is usually permanent. However, factors such as pregnancy, aging or hormonal changes can affect the tissue.

Labiaplasty: from basic to more extensive procedures

Everyone is unique and this is reflected in the physical examination that takes place during the personal consultation. Not everyone gets the best results with the same surgical technique. This will have to be tailored to your body. Sometimes the inner labia protrude, but are short in length (vertically). In other cases, the excess skin of the labia rises and is quite long, which is why we recommend a more extensive procedure.

Basic Labiaplasty

During a regular labiaplastyThe inner labia are corrected by the surgeon where desired. During the procedure, the protruding skin tissue is carefully removed, and the wound is closed with dissolvable sutures.

Extensive Labiaplasty incl. V-Lift

There are often extra folds and excess skin next to the clitoral hood. During the more extensive labiaplasty with a V-lift, in addition to excess skin tissue from the inner labia, the skin that extends upward (next to the clitoris) is also corrected with a so-called V-lift. Removing the excess skin creates a smooth transition along the entire length for a natural result.

Labiaplasty with Clitoral hood correction

During the labiaplasty with clitoral hood correction (hood correction) In addition to excess skin tissue from the inner labia, the skin around the clitoris is also removed. Excess skin around or over the clitoris can cause irritation and reduced sensation. Our team of specialists will guide you through the entire process.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have a question that is not answered? Feel free to contact us Monday to Sunday, between 08:00 and 22:00, at the following number or email.

What is the difference between a regular labiaplasty and a V-lift?

A standard labiaplasty focuses on removing excess tissue, while the V-lift with fillers or laser treatment improves skin structure and firmness.

What are the costs of a labiaplasty?

Costs start at €950. An exact price will be determined during a consultation.

Is labiaplasty painful?

Local anesthesia is used during the procedure, making it painless. Some post-operative pain and swelling may occur.

How does a labiaplasty proceed?

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, takes approximately one to one and a half hours and is performed on an outpatient basis by an experienced cosmetic doctor or surgeon.

Who is a labia correction not suitable for?

Labiaplasty is not suitable for everyone. This procedure is particularly discouraged for women who do not experience any physical or psychological complaints, but are only concerned about the appearance of their labia based on unrealistic beauty ideals. It is important to realize that every vagina is unique – there is no standard or "perfect" shape. If you are insecure about your labia without it causing physical discomfort or emotional distress, it is advisable to ask yourself whether surgical intervention will actually contribute to your well-being and self-image. In addition, there is a minimum age requirement: The labia must be fully developed before a correction can be considered. Therefore, labiaplasty is only possible for patients aged 18 and over. Younger patients are therefore not eligible, even if there is a medical indication. In summary, labiaplasty is not suitable for: – Women under 18 – Individuals without physical or psychological complaints, but with solely cosmetic concerns – Women with unrealistic expectations of the result – Individuals with a distorted body image or underlying psychological issues If in doubt, it is always wise to first request a free consultation with a physician specializing in intimate surgery. During this consultation, your complaints, wishes, and expectations will be discussed in detail.

How long does recovery take after labiaplasty?

Recovery usually takes about six weeks. The first few days may be tender, and swelling and bruising are normal.

Who is a labiaplasty suitable for?

The treatment is suitable for women who experience physical discomfort or feel insecure about the shape or size of their inner labia.

Are there any risks associated with labiaplasty treatment?

As with any surgical procedure, there are risks, such as infection, scarring, or temporary numbness, but these are rare.

What is labiaplasty?

A labiaplasty (labiaplasty) is a surgical procedure that removes excess tissue from the inner labia to address physical complaints or cosmetic concerns.
