The consultation: what to expect

In a no-obligation consultation with one of our female doctors, we will discuss the reason why you are interested in a labiaplasty. Do you have any complaints? And if so, what are they? Or are your reasons mainly cosmetic? Or both? Whatever your story, we are happy to listen to it. It is important to know that you must be at least 18 years old.

Everyone is unique, which is why during the labiaplasty consultation a physical examination will also be performed by our specialist to assess the anatomy and any abnormalities. Based on this, we will draw up a personal treatment plan that suits your needs.

Discussing wishes and expectations

During the first consultation we take the time to discuss your complaints and wishes. We listen attentively and give honest advice about the possibilities and expectations of the procedure. We provide extensive information about the treatment, aftercare, risks and look at the possibilities and associated costs.

Evaluation by the specialist

By means of a physical examination we can determine whether you are eligible for a labiaplasty and which treatment options apply to you. In this way we can provide you with good information. This can be a double-sided or single-sided (extensive) labiaplasty or with a clitoral hood correction. In this way we determine how we can achieve the best result. During the physical examination photos are taken, which can later be compared with the final result.

The operation is a relatively minor procedure, however, the recovery period is spicy. This may be accompanied by some pain and swelling in the pubic area. We will give you medication to promote a successful recovery, and you can also take paracetamol for support. Swelling should be controlled with an ice pack immediately after the procedure and for several days. Keep the wound clean by rinsing it at least twice a day and after every toilet visit. We recommend leaving the area alone as much as possible to allow it to recover properly.

After the labia correction, the wound is sutured with soluble sutures and is not bandaged. It is therefore sensible to wear a panty liner or sanitary towel against any wound fluid/blood loss. In the first four to six weeks after treatment, do not engage in heavy physical activity, such as physical work, intensive sports or lifting. You can resume your daily activities. During the recovery period, sex is not recommended. You are advised to wait at least six weeks before doing so.

Result of the labiaplasty

There are no clearly visible scars left after the labia correction. The inner and outer labia are in balance after the treatment and they form a natural whole. They can retain a somewhat irregular, asymmetrical appearance. This is normal, every labia is authentic and unique in its plastic form. The labia almost always retain their natural sensitivity. The final result can be seen after 6 to 9 months.

Effect on self-confidence

Many women experience an increase in self-confidence and comfort after the procedure, both in everyday life and during intimate moments.

Sustainability of the result

The result of a labiaplasty is usually permanent. However, factors such as pregnancy, aging or hormonal changes can affect the tissue.
