Consultation with the doctor

1.

Consultation with the doctor

An eyelid correction in Delft is always preceded by a consultation with one of our qualified and experienced doctors. You can easily book an appointment for a free consultation via our website. During the personal interview with our surgical doctor, you can indicate what bothers you, what eye complaints you have and what you would like to see changed. The consultation takes place in a relaxed setting so that you feel completely at ease. You will have the conversation with the doctor treating you.

You may during the free consultation ask all your questions about treatment, aftercare, risks and costs. You will get expert and honest answers. Your eligibility for an eyelid correction will be examined. You will receive clear explanations about the entire treatment process and the expected result. During this first consultation, photos are taken of you before treatment. At a later stage, these are compared with the photos taken after the surgery. You can thus see the positive effect of the eyelid correction in Delft.

Treatment

Treatment

An eyelid correction in Delft required no admission at our clinic. It is an outpatient treatment and relatively simple procedure performed under local anaesthetic. If you are very nervous, sedative medication can be prescribed. Our patients are allowed to go home after the procedure and after a short rest period. An upper eyelid correction is performed for drooping eyelids. The treatment area is first marked off. After a minute incision, the excess skin and fatty tissue is removed. The scar of the suture falls precisely into the natural skin fold. This is virtually invisible later.

A lower eyelid correction is performed if you suffer from bags under your eyes. Our specialist makes a small incision under the lash line, after which the excess skin and fatty tissue under the eyes is removed. The skin is then pulled together and sutured. The scar under your eyelashes is hardly visible, if at all. An eyelid correction is a painless treatment that takes about 1 hour. You should not drive yourself after the treatment because of the swelling around the eyes and the resulting reduced vision. An eyelid correction has long-term results. You will - with good skin care and a healthy lifestyle - enjoy the treatment for 10 to 15 years.

Aftercare

3.

Aftercare

You are guaranteed at SkinSurgery excellent aftercare. We follow an aftercare protocol to minimise the risks and chances of complications. Swelling and redness after eyelid surgery in Delft can be effectively controlled with cooling goggles. You place a gauze pad between your eyes and the cooling goggles. It helps to sleep with an extra pillow for the first few days so that your head is higher. In case of mild pain, a paracetamol can be taken. You are allowed to rinse your eyes with a gentle jet of water one day after the procedure. Afterwards, pat it dry without rubbing.

For the first week, avoid heavy physical exercise, lifting, bending, pressing and coughing. You should not cut the ends of the stitches yourself. This will be done after 7 to 9 days at our clinic. It is out of the question to smoke while the sutures are still in place. Otherwise, your blood vessels will constrict and you run an increased risk of impaired wound healing. You may use make-up again after the stitches have been removed and all scabs are gone. Do not expose the scars to sunlight or tanning bed radiation for the first three months. You will see our doctor for a check-up up to 6 weeks after the treatment.

Risks

4.

Risks

Eyelid surgery in Delft is not associated with any major risks or complications. This short-term and relatively simple intervention produces only some swelling, redness and bruising around the eyes. These symptoms disappear after a few days. In occasional cases, a post-operative haemorrhage, eye inflammation, numbness of the eyelid margin, uneven eyelids, cysts or scarring may occur. If in doubt, contact the specialists at SkinSurgery. Our doctors are readily available.

Eyelid surgery for men

Prices and fees eyelid surgery for men

Nothing is more important than transparency when it comes to surgical procedures, not only about the risks of a procedure, but also the price. Eyelid surgery for men is no more expensive than eyelid surgery for women. Prices differ based on the treatment chosen. SkinSurgery's eyelid surgery price for men includes pre- and aftercare. Our specialists will be happy to discuss all options with you, (including payment options if you specify) during a no-obligation consultation.

Eyelid surgery for men

Eyelid surgery for men - Did you know that the most common cosmetic procedure is eyelid surgery? For both women and men, eyelids begin to droop over time. Deteriorated vision, headaches or a tired look are complaints that can be caused by droopy, heavy eyelids. Eyelid surgery for men can then be the solution.

Many men suffer from low-hanging eyelids from the age of 40 and sometimes even earlier. This is a natural consequence of ageing. The skin makes less collagen and elastin, which causes the skin around the eyes to start drooping. In addition, we slowly lose fat in the face, intensifying the effect of drooping skin. Some men choose to undergo a facelift, others find a brow lift enough, but the vast majority of men opt for eyelid surgery to address the area around the eyes.

Eyelid surgery for men is a relatively simple procedure when performed by an experienced surgeon. An example of a mistake an expert doctor will never make is removing too much skin. When this happens, the eyelids may no longer close properly. This is why it is very important to choose an A clinic when you decide to undergo male eyelid surgery.

At SkinSurgery, you have come to the right place. In addition to experience and knowledge about upper eyelid surgery, SkinSurgery also offers lower eyelid surgery, and double eyelid surgery (also known as Asian eyelid surgery). Read more about the different types of eyelid corrections we offer and their prices here. Curious about the before and after photos of eyelid surgery for men? Scroll down and check out the photos. Convinced, or do you have doubts? You can always schedule a no-obligation consultation with our specialists, in which all options will be discussed with you.

Can an upper eyelid correction be done multiple times in one's life?

Yes, that is possible in some cases. Because skin and tissue continue to change due to ageing and genetic predisposition, an upper eyelid correction may become relevant again later in life.

What is an upper eyelid correction?

An upper eyelid correction is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin, fat, and sometimes muscle tissue from the upper eyelid to correct tired or droopy eyes.

Can I pay in installments?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to pay in installments.

What is included in the price of an eyelid correction?

The price is all-inclusive: consultation, treatment, anesthesia, aftercare, and checkups are included. No hidden costs.

Are there any costs associated with the first consultation?

No, the first consultation is completely without obligation and free of charge.

How much does lower eyelid correction cost?

Lower eyelid surgery starts at around €1,800. This treatment targets bags and wrinkles under the eyes.

When can I exercise again?

Intense exercise is not recommended for at least 2 weeks after surgery to avoid pressure on the treated area.

Is eyelid correction covered by health insurance?

Sometimes, if there's a medical indication. In this case, it's important that you contact your health insurer yourself. We do not work with health insurers.

Are there any risks or complications associated with the treatment?

As with any surgery, there are minor risks such as infection, postoperative bleeding, or asymmetry. These are rare. Discomfort such as swelling and bruising are more common.

Does eyelid surgery hurt?

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. The injections may feel uncomfortable. Afterward, you may experience some warmth and pressure, but no pain. You may also experience some discomfort and swelling after the treatment.

What is eyelid surgery?

An eyelid correction is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin, fat, and/or muscle tissue around the eyes. This can reduce the appearance of heavy eyelids and create a fresh, rested appearance.

When am I eligible for eyelid surgery?

You are eligible if you suffer from drooping/heavy eyelids, a tired appearance or medical complaints such as headaches or reduced vision.

How can I best prepare for an eyelid correction?

Good preparation contributes to a smooth recovery and a beautiful result. It's best to stop smoking and taking blood-thinning medications or supplements that increase the risk of bleeding (such as aspirin or certain herbal remedies) two weeks before the procedure. Make sure you are rested and wear comfortable clothing on the day of your treatment. At SkinSurgery, we guide you step by step through our own SkinSurgery app. It contains all the important information, practical tips, and reminders for both before and after your surgery. This way, you always know exactly what to expect and you're never alone.

Can you have an eyelid correction again?

Yes, in some cases, a second procedure is possible. This usually occurs years later, when the excess or sagging skin has reappeared. Your doctor will always assess whether this is safe and appropriate.

How long does it take to see results after eyelid surgery?

In the first few weeks after the procedure, there is often some swelling and bruising. After two weeks, you'll already see a fresher, more open look. However, the final result takes time: the tissue needs to fully heal, and the scars need time to fade further. This process typically takes six months to a year. Only then will the final result be clearly visible and will you achieve the most natural effect.

How long should you cool after a treatment?

To reduce swelling and bruising, it's advisable to cool the area for the first 24 hours after the procedure: ideally, for about 15 minutes every hour. Use a cold pack or a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a clean cloth. You don't need to cool the area overnight; rest and a slightly elevated sleeping position will support recovery.

I'm nervous about my procedure, what now?

It's perfectly normal to be nervous before a procedure. At SkinSurgery, we take the time to answer your questions and discuss all the steps with you beforehand. This way, you'll know exactly what to expect and feel confident about your treatment. We also have a fully equipped SkinSurgery app that guides you step by step before and after the procedure. Our experienced team recognizes that anxiety can be a factor and offers you the support you need. If desired, the doctor can even prescribe a mild sedative to help you start the treatment feeling relaxed.

Can I still close my eyes properly after eyelid surgery?

Yes, you can close your eyes properly after eyelid surgery. Our doctors never remove more skin than is medically safe. During the treatment, we always consider the eye's natural function, ensuring a safe and comfortable recovery.

Can I wear makeup immediately after the procedure?

No, you should wait about 2 weeks before applying makeup around the eyes.

Does smoking affect the outcome?

Smoking reduces blood flow to the skin, slowing down recovery and increasing the risk of swelling, infection, or unsightly scars. The final result may also be less attractive. For safe recovery and the best results, we recommend quitting smoking completely for at least two weeks before and after the procedure.

What can I do to speed up recovery?

Use cold compresses in the first few days, avoid alcohol and nicotine, sleep with your head elevated, and follow your doctor's instructions carefully.

How long does recovery take after an eyelid correction?

Most people experience 7 to 10 days of recovery. Swelling and bruising gradually subside. The stitches are removed after 5 to 7 days.

How much does an upper eyelid correction cost?

You can find the current costs for an upper eyelid correction in the pricing overview on our website. The price includes the consultation, treatment, aftercare, and follow-up appointments. The consultation is free and non-binding.
