Botox or filler in the summer: is it safe?

Botox or fillers in the summer: is that safe?

Many people wonder if a Botox or filler treatment is advisable in the summer. Sun, heat, and holidays naturally cause doubt. However, the answer is reassuring: in most cases, you can safely undergo treatment in the summer too, provided you take a number of important points into account.

At SkinSurgery Clinics, we've noticed that many clients opt for a fresh, rested look just before summer. Think of a softer frown, subtle volume correction or refined skin rejuvenation. The aim is never an unnatural effect, but a result that suits your own look.

Can you have Botox in the summer?

Yes, a Botox treatment can perfectly take place in the summer. Botox works on the muscles that cause certain expression lines, such as forefront, crow's feet or forehead lines. Warm weather does not negatively affect the functioning of Botox itself.

In fact, many people experience more facial tension in the summer due to bright sunlight, and they tend to squint more. A subtle Botox treatment can provide a softer, more relaxed appearance.

After the treatment, we recommend the following for the first 24 hours:

  • avoiding strenuous exercise;
  • to skip the sauna and extreme heat;
  • Do not lie in direct sunlight for too long.

Afterwards, you can typically resume your usual daily activities.

Are fillers safe during hot weather?

too fillers can be safely treated in summer. Hyaluronic acid-based fillers are used to subtly restore volume or refine contours. Think of the lips, knee caps, jawline or teardrop.

However, it is important to be aware that heat can temporarily affect any swelling after the treatment. High temperatures cause blood vessels to dilate slightly, which can sometimes make slight swelling visible for a little longer.

Therefore, we advise:

  • to cool the treated area well after the treatment;
  • to be careful with intense sunbathing in the first few days;
  • drink enough water;
  • Treatments should ideally not be scheduled immediately before a long beach day or holiday.

Slight swelling or a small bruise is normal and usually disappears on its own.

What is better before a holiday: Botox or fillers?

That depends on your wishes and timing.

Botox typically takes a few days to become visible. The optimal result is usually seen after about two weeks. Therefore, it's best to plan a Botox treatment around two weeks before you travel.

Fillers often provide immediately visible results, although some swelling may still be present in the first few days. Therefore, we ideally advise scheduling fillers at least 1 to 2 weeks before a holiday.

Does the sun have an influence on the result?

The sun does not directly affect Botox or filler itself, but UV radiation does accelerate skin ageing. Good sun protection therefore remains essential, even after a treatment.

Use SPF daily and protect the skin from excessive sun exposure. This way, you'll keep your results looking better for longer.

When should you wait a moment?

In some situations, it is wise to postpone treatment briefly:

  • on sunburned or irritated skin;
  • directly before an intensive sun holiday;
  • when you exercise a lot or visit saunas in the first few days after treatment.

During a consultation, we always look personally at your schedule, skin and wishes.

Natural result, even in the summer

Many clients want to look fresh, rested, and relaxed in the summer, without anyone being able to pinpoint exactly why. This is precisely where the power of a subtle treatment lies. Not a changed face, but a refined version of yourself.

At SkinSurgery Clinics in Bergschenhoek, Den Haag and soon: Nootdorp, we combine medical expertise with personal attention and a natural aesthetic vision. The result should suit who you are, whether you're on a sunny terrace or in a casual holiday photo.
