Consultation with doctor
Consultation with doctor
An eyelid correction in Delft is always preceded by a consultation with one of our qualified and experienced doctors. You can easily book an appointment for a free consultation via our website. During the personal interview with our surgical doctor, you can indicate what bothers you, what eye complaints you have and what you would like to see changed. The consultation takes place in a relaxed setting so that you feel completely at ease. You will have the conversation with the doctor treating you.
You may during the free consultation ask all your questions about treatment, aftercare, risks and costs. You will get expert and honest answers. Your eligibility for an eyelid correction will be examined. You will receive clear explanations about the entire treatment process and the expected result. During this first consultation, photos are taken of you before treatment. At a later stage, these are compared with the photos taken after the surgery. You can thus see the positive effect of the eyelid correction in Delft.
Treatment
Treatment
An eyelid correction in Delft required no admission at our clinic. It is an outpatient treatment and relatively simple procedure performed under local anaesthetic. If you are very nervous, sedative medication can be prescribed. Our patients are allowed to go home after the procedure and after a short rest period. An upper eyelid correction is performed for drooping eyelids. The treatment area is first marked off. After a minute incision, the excess skin and fatty tissue is removed. The scar of the suture falls precisely into the natural skin fold. This is virtually invisible later.
A lower eyelid correction is performed if you suffer from bags under your eyes. Our specialist makes a small incision under the lash line, after which the excess skin and fatty tissue under the eyes is removed. The skin is then pulled together and sutured. The scar under your eyelashes is hardly visible, if at all. An eyelid correction is a painless treatment that takes about 1 hour. You should not drive yourself after the treatment because of the swelling around the eyes and the resulting reduced vision. An eyelid correction has long-term results. You will - with good skin care and a healthy lifestyle - enjoy the treatment for 10 to 15 years.
Aftercare
Aftercare
You are guaranteed at Skin + Surgery excellent aftercare. We follow an aftercare protocol to minimise the risks and chances of complications. Swelling and redness after eyelid surgery in Delft can be effectively controlled with cooling goggles. You place a gauze pad between your eyes and the cooling goggles. It helps to sleep with an extra pillow for the first few days so that your head is higher. In case of mild pain, a paracetamol can be taken. You are allowed to rinse your eyes with a gentle jet of water one day after the procedure. Afterwards, pat it dry without rubbing.
For the first week, avoid heavy physical exercise, lifting, bending, pressing and coughing. You should not cut the ends of the stitches yourself. This will be done after 7 to 9 days at our clinic. It is out of the question to smoke while the sutures are still in place. Otherwise, your blood vessels will constrict and you run an increased risk of impaired wound healing. You may use make-up again after the stitches have been removed and all scabs are gone. Do not expose the scars to sunlight or tanning bed radiation for the first three months. You will see our doctor for a check-up up to 6 weeks after the treatment.
Risks
Risks
Eyelid surgery in Delft is not associated with any major risks or complications. This short-term and relatively simple intervention produces only some swelling, redness and bruising around the eyes. These symptoms disappear after a few days. In occasional cases, a post-operative haemorrhage, eye inflammation, numbness of the eyelid margin, uneven eyelids, cysts or scarring may occur. If in doubt, contact the specialists at Skin + Surgery. Our doctors are readily available.
What causes heavy eyelids?
As we age, the skin loses its elasticity. For many, this results in drooping eyelids, also known as heavy eyelids. When the skin of the upper eyelids ages, excess skin develops that hangs over the eyes and can adversely affect the appearance. The result is often that you look tired, old or sometimes angry.
Check out the before and after photos of our eyelid corrections and see the difference. Not only cosmetically can drooping eyelids have a detrimental effect, a eyelid correction in the Gouda area can also be a good solution for medical reasons. This is because many people with heavy eyelids suffer from headaches and vision impairment.

Before and after photos eyelid surgery
An eyelid surgery changes your whole face. This is well shown in the before and after photos by Skin + Surgery. After eyelid correction, your eyes will be open, fresh and youthful again. The removal of excess skin, muscle and fatty tissue brings out the shape of your eyes. Scars are minimal to not visible and fall nicely into the skin fold.
For the first few weeks after eyelid surgery, the treated area is a little swollen and red. This is normal. This is because the area around the eyes needs time to recover. After a few weeks, the skin has recovered more and the first results can already be seen. The full result can really be seen after several months.
