Treatment

Face slimming is an outpatient procedure, which does not require admission. You can go home after the procedure and after a short rest period. You are just not allowed to drive yourself yet. Therefore, take someone with you to our clinic and have them pick you up by car after the treatment. During the face slimming treatment in Leidsche Rijn, buccal fat is removed and liposuction of the neck is applied to remove the double chin. The skin is not lifted. Aftercare

We are happy to guide you throughout the treatment and healing process. We work with a specially developed pre- and aftercare protocol, so that you are optimally prepared for treatment and recovery. Your face may be slightly swollen for a few days after the weight loss. For mild after-pain, swallowing paracetamol will suffice. For the first week, take plenty of rest and sleep in the supine position on an extra pillow. This helps against swelling and promotes the healing process. Avoid pressing, squeezing, bending or lifting for the first few weeks. Do not engage in heavy physical activity for the first few weeks.

You will achieve the best results and fastest healing with a healthy lifestyle. At least stop smoking until the stitches are out, do not drink hot drinks to avoid congestion in the face and do not chew solid food intensively. Otherwise, this will put pressure on the sutures in the face. Keep moving normally after the procedure to keep the blood circulation going and the wound healing quickly. After one to two weeks, you will be well toned again and can resume your daily social activities. For the first three months, do not expose your skin to bright sunlight and avoid using the tanning bed or sauna. We recommend some connective tissue massages from 3 months after treatment. This makes the skin, underlying tissues and scars supple and soft and promotes recovery.

Risks

What is face slimming?

Face slimming is a procedure that adds definition to your face by removing volume from specific areas that are bothersome. This includes volume that causes chubby cheeks, jowls, a baby face, or a double chin. It is, by definition, a surgical procedure. Who is a suitable candidate for face slimming?

Face slimming is suitable for people who have a lot of volume around the lower part of the face, jawline and neck (double chin). Often, this fat cannot be 'exercised' or 'dieted away' and only a combined, surgical procedure gives truly long-lasting results. It is important to assess whether there is sufficient skin elasticity to restore the face to its natural contours. If there is (severe) skin sagging, the doctor will recommend another procedure.

What are benefits of face slimming?

Aftercare after face slimming

Get enough rest in the week after your treatment. Make sure someone can help you. Sleep on your back on 2 pillows. This reduces the chance of bleeding and swelling. It promotes healing. In the first two weeks after the treatment, you may not press, strain, lift or bend. We advise you not to smoke until the stitches are removed. Smoking increases the chance of complications. Avoid chewing solid food intensively. This puts pressure on the stitches in the face. Do not drink hot drinks, such as tea or coffee, to prevent congestion in the face. Swelling and bruising will get worse in the first three days and then slowly decrease again. It is wise to keep moving normally. This is good for the blood circulation and wound healing. Do not do heavy or strenuous work or sports activities during the first six weeks. Plan your social contacts. Stay home for a week. The treated area will look blue, swollen and bruised for the first week. The scars may also be red and swollen immediately after the treatment. This can be quite a shock. One to two weeks after a facelift, you will usually be presentable again and can resume your social activities. We advise you not to expose the scars to UV sunlight and/or the sunbed for 3 months after the operation. Avoid emotional excitement. After a few weeks, everything will be fine again.
