A new step in scar repair after upper eyelid surgery - SkinSurgery Recovery Boost Package

The power of polynucleotides during surgery

An upper eyelid correction is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures. The surgery itself is relatively minor, but scar repair remains a major concern for many patients.

After all, the skin of the upper eyelid is extremely thin and delicate. This is precisely why at SkinSurgery we pay great attention to the quality of the recovery after surgery.

To further enhance that recovery, we are introducing a new technique in which polynucleotides (PN) are injected around the scar during surgery. With this, we support the skin's natural healing process exactly when the body starts to recover.

What are polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are natural fragments of DNA. They have long been used in regenerative medicine because they aid the body in cell repair and tissue regeneration. They are similar in their action to PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide), a substance that has been used in medicine for many years in wound healing. That structure acts as a kind of biological framework in the skin.

It creates microscopic channels through which water, nutrients and oxygen can be better transported to cells. This gives skin cells exactly the environment they need to recover optimally.

What do polynucleotides do during wound healing?

During recovery from surgery, the body has to perform several processes simultaneously: regulate inflammation, make new cells and build collagen.

Polynucleotides support this process on several levels.

1. Inhibition of inflammation
An inflammatory reaction always occurs after surgery. Polynucleotides help regulate this reaction, reducing redness and swelling faster.

2. Activation of fibroblasts
Fibroblasts are the cells that produce collagen and elastin. Polynucleotides stimulate these cells to form stronger and higher-quality collagen.

3. Improving microcirculation
By stimulating angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels), blood flow to the tissue is improved. As a result, the skin receives more oxygen and nutrients.

4. DNA repair and cell regeneration
Polynucleotides provide building blocks for DNA repair and support cellular regeneration, allowing the skin to renew itself more efficiently.

5. Reinforcement of the extracellular matrix
The extracellular matrix forms the skin's support tissue. Polynucleotides strengthen this structure, contributing to a smoother and more stable scar.

Why exactly with an upper eyelid correction?

In an upper eyelid correction, the scar is placed in the natural crease of the eyelid. Usually, this scar already heals very nicely. However, there are factors that can affect the recovery, such as:

  • skin quality
  • genetic predisposition to scarring
  • age
  • skin perfusion

By applying polynucleotides directly during surgery, we support the healing process from the very first moment.

The goal is:

  • a calmer recovery
  • less redness of the scar
  • better skin quality around the eye
  • a more refined end result

Safety of polynucleotides

A key advantage of polynucleotides is their excellent safety profile. Because they are natural DNA fragments that are broken down by the body, they are well tolerated by the tissue. Moreover, unlike some other injectables, there is no risk of vascular occlusion, which makes them particularly safe to use in the skin.

A refinement of surgical care

At SkinSurgery, we believe that aesthetic surgery is not just about the procedure itself, but about the total journey: from preparation to recovery. The introduction of polynucleotides around upper eyelid surgery is an example of how we continue to refine surgical techniques. After all, a small addition during surgery can make a big difference in how the skin heals. That's why we are proud that SkinSurgery has adopted this innovative technique as a First clinic in the Netherlands to apply upper eyelid surgery.

Recovery Boost Package (Rejuran Classical I)

Supporting scar repair after upper eyelid surgery

An upper eyelid correction often gives a fresh and rested look. Nevertheless, one question remains important for many patients: how nicely will the scar heal? Although scars from an upper eyelid correction are usually very subtle, factors such as skin quality, blood flow and individual predisposition can affect recovery. This is why at SkinSurgery we offer a Recovery Package that is specially designed to provide additional support for the natural recovery of the skin after surgery.

What does the Recovery Package entail?

After the upper eyelid correction is performed, polynucleotides (PN) are carefully injected around the scar. Polynucleotides are natural DNA fragments used in regenerative medicine to support skin and tissue repair. They assist the body in the healing process by:

  • inhibiting inflammatory reactions around the scar
  • reducing redness and swelling during recovery
  • stimulating fibroblasts to produce high-quality collagen
  • improving skin regeneration around the eyes
  • strengthening the extracellular matrix, allowing the scar to heal more smoothly

The goal of this treatment is a calmer recovery and a more refined scar.

When is this applied?

Polynucleotides are administered around the scar during the (final) check-up (one or more weeks after the upper eyelid correction). As a result, we support recovery exactly when the body starts to heal.

Who is this package suitable for?

The Recovery Package can be a valuable addition for patients who:

  • want to best support the recovery of their scar
  • want to further improve their skin quality around the eyes
  • value the most refined end result possible

Costs

The Recovery Boost Package can be added to an upper eyelid surgery for an additional cost to the chosen treatment programme. View the cost of the Recovery Boost Package in the price list.
