The title “cosmetic doctor KNMG” is a protected title deposited by the KNMG, which may only be used if the doctor is registered in the profile register. The Dutch Association of Cosmetic Medicine (NVCG) is the government-recognized scientific association for cosmetic medicine and aims to improve the quality and information of medical cosmetic treatments. The NVCG is responsible for the training and certification of the cosmetic doctors KNMG and supervises new developments in the industry and doctors and patients can also contact the association in the event of any complications.

Due to the protected profile recognition, not every doctor can call himself a cosmetic doctor KNMG and it is immediately visible to everyone which doctors have the competence of a cosmetic doctor KNMG. Personally, I think this is a very nice development and I hope that the quality and safety of the cosmetic medicine profession can be better guaranteed.
